Weekly Update – 9/7

 In News

Welcome back TOW families!

We hope it’s been a great first few days–we know the first week of school is filled with new routines, overwhelming amounts of information and high emotions. The Weekly Update should help. This weekly email is a joint communication from the TOW PTA and Principal Conlon, designed to make your life easier! It is emailed out each Thursday and includes a snapshot of the week ahead, plus details about all the great stuff going on at TOW. Read it, click through it, print it, post it at home! If you delete it, it’s always available on towpta.org.

SCHOOL LUNCH ACCOUNTS

Are you interested in learning more about school lunches and how to create an account for your child?  Check out the Nutrition Services website.

NEW VOLUNTEER PROCEDURES

Volunteers that perform volunteer service more than five (5) hours per week, chaperone field trips, or drive students, are considered “Tier II volunteers” and are required to receive Live Scan Fingerprint clearance through the FBI/DOJ prior to volunteering.  Also, volunteers who will have frequent or prolonged contact with students must demonstrate they are free from tuberculosis (TB). While we understand these requirements may be inconvenient, they are legally required for student safety and well-being.   Once an individual is approved as a Tier II volunteer, they do not need to go through the process again as long as their child and his/her siblings are continuously enrolled in LBUSD.  Click here to get all the details about the opportunity to get your fingerprint clearance done for free.

NEW TOW STEAM FAMILY DAY!!!

Come for a (free!) STEAM family day on Saturday, September 16 from 9am-12:00pm. This event will explore science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM!). There will be eight different stations with MANY take home STEAM projects.  Come build, decorate, and test launch your own rocket!  Coding and robotics will also be explored at this event.  Plus parent engineers and scientists will be there to talk about how they apply STEAM in their jobs.  There will be much more so please join us!  For more info and to RSVP.

JUST A COUPLE OTHER ITEMS

  • Our campus opens at 7:40 everyday so please do not drop your child off before that time.
  • Please call the office before 12 if you have a change of plans for your child.  Do not just email the teacher directly because they do not always check while they are teaching.
