President’s Report – 2/13 PTA Meeting

 In News

We had a cozy and well attended February PTA meeting in the PLC room….with lots of fun raffle prizes! Come to the March meeting for a chance for more! We mixed up the agenda to keep things interesting and enjoyed a wonderful garden presentation by Secretary and Garden Chair Kelly Osborne.

The nominating committee announced the slate with open roles for President, Vice President, and Treasurer.  Agea Lee will continue as Auditor and Danielle Roedersheimer will stay on as Financial Secretary. Alex Cattan will move into the role of Recording Secretary. Kirsten Rogers was announced as Historian.

We had a discussion about Jogathon, which is coming up on Friday March 24. We will be using vendor Scholastic Challenge to help run/mange the event and each parent will need to set up a personal fundraising page for their student, which can be private or public. Corporate sponsorships are being solicited now!

Danielle Roedersheimer shared ideas on bringing the Green Movement back to TOW and discussed the importance of cutting down on food waste. We will be looking for parent helpers to go back to the yellow waste trash bag system. We also discussed the timing of recess and lunch.

Mr. Conlon reported that the district will move to all-day kindergarten for 2017-2018. Mr. Conlon and Ms. Capano met with WeatherBug and we discussed purchasing the weather station system with a camera for TOW. We’d love to ask for additional funding at the Jogathon to help make this happen!

Treasurer Laura Jumani presented the Treasurer’s and Budget to Actual Reports. We voted to purchase a dolphin (Topper) mascot costume for TOW. Also, we will apply for a banner across Forest for 2018 to promote the Jogathon and solicit new sponsors.

We hope you will all join us for our next meeting on Monday, March 13 at 8am in the MPR. Elections will happen for next year’s officers.

Thanks,

Sarah Durand
TOW PTA President
