President’s Report – 10/19 PTA Meeting

 In News

Thanks to all who attended the PTA meeting on Monday morning. It was a big group and we did a lot of talking!

Bonanza wrap up – The Bonanza earnings came to a total $25,000! With expenses coming in about $6,000, we are looking at a net of about $19,000! Wow!!! Wristband sales accounted for $13,000, the silent auction brought in over $5,000 and $4,000 was from sponsors (the rest is food and ticket sales). We had a roses/thorns discussion to talk about what worked and things we might want to improve on next year. Overall, we had an incredibly successful Bonanza debut year and are excited to make it even better next year!

Reading Counts – We discussed the launch of Reading Counts and increased the budget to support the prizing system designed by chairs Jakki and Danielle. Learn more about Reaching Counts at TOW.

Garden – Kelly talked about the latest in the garden, and we agreed that we’d like regular garden-specific information to be shared widely via PTA email blasts.

Family Art Night – Christina talked about what is in development for the first Family Art Night of the year, coming up on Nov 6.

Fall Fundraiser – Sheri shared that info is out to parents, art projects are super cute this year, and everything is running smoothly. Order deadline is Monday, Oct 26!

PTA meeting speakers – Cindy Newman-Jacobs spoke briefly about developing cognitive skills in our own children. She is working on speakers/presentations for future meetings and collected ideas.

We hope you will all join us for our next meeting on November 9 at 8:15am in the MPR.

Thanks,

Sarah Durand
