President’s Report – 9/21 PTA Meeting

Thanks to all who attended the PTA meeting on Monday evening. We had a great group of members, with a blend of newcomers and familiar faces. We will continue to rotate meeting times to try to capture those of you who have not been able to attend in the past.

The majority of our business was related to getting set up for the new school year. After hearing an update from Principal Conlon, we closed out last year’s financials and adopted the audit. Then we approved and adopted our programs and calendar for 2015-2016. Treasurer Laura Jumani walked us through the year’s budget, and it was approved and adopted. We took the necessary steps to approve payments and annual contracts for the start of the year.

Bonanza chairs, Gorjana and Diana, spoke about the exciting plans for Friday’s big fundraising event. If you would like to help with the event, please sign up on VolunteerSpot. Garden chair Kelly Osborne shared about the exciting work that was completed during our Sunday work day and the success of the volunteer orientation earlier in the day.

In new business, we added two fundraisers:

Ruby’s Nite – Stay tuned for details. In Nov or Dec, we will have a TOW night at Ruby’s Laguna location and 20% of sales will benefit TOW.

We discussed having a TOW presence/activity at El Morro’s Boo Blast, but agreed, for this year, we needed to focus our energy on the Bonanza.

Finally, we formed a Bylaws Review committee for our three year bylaw review. The committee will include President Sarah Durand, Parliamentarian Alex Cattan, Barbara Evans and Valerie Grombchevsky.
