How Can You Help at TOW?
We’d love your help next year. Take a look at the following PTA roles, big and small, and let us know how you’d like to get involved.
EXECUTIVE BOARD
Membership Chair – FILLED!
This is a standing committee chair role that would serve on the Executive Board. We need someone who is excited about recruiting new members and keep track of the membership list and emails throughout the year. You must be willing and able to attend PTA meetings as a member of the Exec Board. This is a great way to get your feet wet in PTA!
PROGRAMS
Community Service
This chair runs projects big and small to help our kids and school community serve Laguna Beach and our surrounding areas. Past events include costume drive, collection for the local food bank, beach clean ups and more.
Reflections/Imagination Celebration & Student Art Contests & Exhibitions
The National PTA and our community put on amazing art contests throughout the year. Volunteers help collect, mat and label art projects, as well as find new ways to encourage school-wide participation. This role supports District chair Jennifer Baker.
Family Art Nights
Family arts night brings Sawdust and other community artists to TOW to facilitate an art project that is specifically designed for the whole family to work on together. Chair Christina Shook is looking for a partner to facilitate the events throughout the year.
Reading Counts
A chance to continue to shape this new reading program at TOW! Volunteers work with chair Danielle Roedersheimer to facilitate the incentive prize system that rewards readers for hard work.
Staff Appreciation Week
A week of treats, gifts and love to show how much we value our TOW teachers and staff. Chair will come up with events throughout the week to show appreciation, secure food donations and manage parent volunteers. Past events include breakfast, luncheon, ice cream social, and homemade flower and card day. Week is in mid to late May.
Talent Show
A big production usually held in late January, in need of stage parents! Committee members help manage rehearsals, organize the event itself, including trolley and red carpet, and keep things calm onstage and off, working closely with chair Laura Buckle.
Welcome Back Luncheon
A luncheon for staff and teachers the week before school begins, as PTA’s way of saying “welcome back.” Chair would coordinate decorations and food. Please make sure this works with your summer vacation schedule.
5th Grade Spelling Bee – FILLED!
We need a parent of an incoming 5th grader to chair the spelling bee. This event will be held at the end of the year in conjunction with El Morro. The chair can also look into registering TOW for the National spelling bee so winners can go on to compete at the county and state levels!
FUNDRAISERS
Angels Laguna Family Night – FILLED!
This chair helps coordinate the assembly, promotion and ticket sales/distribution for the Laguna Family Night at Angels Stadium. Game date is selected by Angels organization and is usually in May.
