Weekly Update: 5/7 – 5/15
Hello TOW Families,
Have you bought your Angels tickets yet (last day is TODAY)? How about your yearbook (last day is TOMORROW)? Don’t miss out!
PRINCIPAL BLAST
MORNING DROP OFF
I appreciate all of you that have been using our drop off line in the morning. It has been moving quickly with at least 4 to 5 volunteers opening doors each morning. The line is completely dissipated by 8am, allowing all students to get to class on time. I highly encourage those of you currently dropping off your students on Mountain View to utilize the drop off line. The traffic on Mountain View has been hectic recently. Please only drive on Mountain View if you are parking to volunteer on campus or walk your students to class. Also, be sure to turn around using the cul-de-sac instead of neighbor’s driveways. We continue to have close calls with cars almost hitting students walking on the sidewalks and/or backing into other cars. Thank you for helping us to make Mountain View a much safer pathway to campus.
CLASS PLACEMENTS FOR NEXT YEAR
It is a TOW policy to not accept parent requests for specific teachers for the following year. Teachers, support staff, and myself have been working together to build our classes for next year. We are spending quite a bit of time ensuring the classes are balanced and that students are appropriately placed to meet their diverse needs.
KUDOS TO KIDS MAKING A DIFFERENCE
I wanted to celebrate the philanthropic deeds of several of our 4th graders in Mrs. Thomas’ class. Alea Dillow, Lila Goldstein, Owen Blum, Keala Layton, Rory Beckner, and Kirra Moore had the idea to “double at least one endangered species.” They started a group and have been meeting at lunch brainstorming ways to support endangered animals. The students coordinated a bake sale last weekend and raised $432. They plan to donate half of the money to the Pacific Marine Mammal Center here in Laguna. We are so proud of their efforts and it is such a powerful, positive message about global awareness and caring for your environment.
