Hello TOW Families,

 The TOW Talent Show is next Thursday, Jan 28! It’s an entertaining night out for the whole family, even if your student is not performing. Tickets on sale now or available the night of the event (if we don’t sell out!). Act 1 at 5pm showcases grades 1-3 and Act 2 at 7pm features grades 4-5 and Honors Chorus.

LCAP SURVEY

The goal of the this survey is to gather feedback on the implementation of the district goals and state priorities for the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). To accomplish this, we are gathering input from all Laguna Beach USD stakeholders. Your participation is critical in this decision-making process, and we appreciate your assistance with this survey.

CHEF CHALLENGE

I need your support to ensure a second victory in a row at the upcoming SchoolPower Chef Challenge. We can’t let Salberg and Herzfeld win! Click on the link above to register and show your love for TOW on Monday at 6:00pm at the Lumberyard Restaurant. Tickets are $95 per person.

TOWN HALL MEETING

As some of you may know, a sober living home has opened on Old Top of the World Drive. It is located just a few houses down from our front entrance. In collaboration with officials from the city of Laguna Beach and Laguna Beach Police Department, we are planning to have an evening town hall meeting on February 2 at TOW to provide parents and community members an opportunity to share concerns. The meeting will be in the MPR from 6 to 7pm.

COINS FOR KENYA

Last week to bring in coins! This project is to raise $15,000 to purchase a wind-solar powered electric generator to provide electricity for Oioolaimutia Elementary School in Maasai Mara, Kenya. Learn more.

DOGS ON CAMPUS

Please remember that dogs are not allowed on campus at any time (and gently remind your neighbors!).

SEMESTER BUS PASS RENEWAL

First semester bus passes will expire on January 29, 2016. Second semester bus passes may be purchased online at www.LBUSD.org under the Department/Transportation tab or at LBUSD Central Office Bldg B (550 Blumont Street) between the hours of 7:30-11:45 AM and 1:00-4:15 PM.  Passes ordered online will be available for pick up until 9:00 AM on Wednesday, January 27th. Passes not picked up will then be sent to school site(s) for distribution. Bus Passes purchased at Central Office will be given out when purchased. If you have any questions about Bus Passes, please do not hesitate to contact Teri Holloway at 949-497-7700 Ext 5212.  Questions regarding bus route schedules should be directed to Durham Transportation at 949-376-0376.

 

PTA ANNOUNCEMENTS

TOW TALENT SHOW

Act 1 and Act 2 tickets are now on sale for Thursday’s show! Please read the instructions on the site carefully, especially if you are buying tickets for both Acts.

Performers, the final dress rehearsal is Wednesday at LBHS Artist Theater.

Act 1 (grades 1-3): 3:00 – 4:30pm

Act 2 (grades 4-5): 4.30 – 6:00pm

At this stage, performers should have props, costumes and a polished act. A parent or other adult must accompany each child for the entire duration of the rehearsal. For show times and more, visit towpta.org/talent-show.

Kids Run the OC Marathon (KROC) will start on Thursday, February 4th. Registration for KROC is still open! Scholarships available, contact Claudia for more information.

Mark your calendar for Monday, Feb 8 at 7pm as an evening to learn more about the TOW of the future! Jeff Dixon, LBUSD Director of Facilities, will share facilities plan updates for TOW, including the CLC portable replacement project, music building addition, and other planned improvements.
