Hello TOW Families,
WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL!!! We know it’s been a whirlwind week with a lot of information, new routines and emotions. This Weekly Update is a joint communication from the TOW PTA and Principal Conlon, designed to make your life easier! It is emailed at the end of each week (usually Thursday afternoon) and includes a snapshot of the week ahead and details about all the great stuff going on at TOW. Read it, click through it, print it, post it at home—we hope it’s helpful! If you delete it, it’s always available on towpta.org.
PRINCIPAL BLAST
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT IS TUESDAY
A night packed full of information from staff and teachers—don’t miss it. Visit the MPR throughout the night for activity info, spirit wear sales, and more. Please remember this is for parents only.
- Kindergarten parent meeting begins in the MPR at 5:40-5:55 with classroom visits starting at 6:00pm
- Grades 1 – 3 and CLC parent meeting in MPR at 6:10-6:25pm with classroom visits at 6:30pm
- Grades 4 – 5 parent meeting in MPR at 6:50-7:05pm with classroom visit at 7:15pm

AFTER-SCHOOL CLASSES
Registration for the Fall session of our after-school program opens this Saturday at 9am. Don’t miss out on new classes like Minecraft robotics, cheerleading, and magic! Browse classes now.

Hear from our principals and LBUSD administrators at Coffee Break this Wednesday, Sept 16 from 8:15 to 10am at the Boys and Girls Club’s Canyon location. You’ll learn more about our new hires, facilities updates, state testing results, BYOD and 4CLE initiatives, and more. A great way to start the year informed!
GARDEN NEWS
Have you heard? TOW has been selected as a recipient of a 2-year $10,000 grant from The Ecology Center. The plan is to transform our garden program to a leading outdoor classroom, with integrated math and science lessons occurring regularly in the garden. More info. Upcoming Garden events:

- Coffee in the Garden Volunteer Orientation – Monday, Sept 21 @ 10am (meet in the Primary Garden)
BACK-TO-SCHOOL BONANZA
Save the afternoon of Oct 2 for an afternoon of good old-fashioned family fun, designed to raise money for TOW! Details to come!
LET YOUR IMAGINATION FLY!
We’ll kick off the annual Reflections art contest at tomorrow’s flag assembly—ask your kid about it and look for more information in the weeks to come. Our goal this year is full school participation! Deadline is Oct 23.

COMPOSTING MADE EASY
Join Waste Management and the City of Laguna Beach on Saturday, September 26 at 10:00am in our very own TOW Outdoor Classroom to learn everything you need to know to start backyard composting. Enter to win a free compost bin in the raffle or pick one up at a discount. Free class / No reservations needed!
